In 1996 brak de Finse metalband Apocalyptica door met hun succesvolle debuutalbum 'Plays Metallica by Four Cellos'. Nu, vele jaren later, zijn ze klaar om te schitteren met gloednieuwe muziek. De unieke samenstelling van Apocalyptica, bestaande uit klassiek geschoolde cellisten Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen en Perttu Kivilaakso, samen met jazzdrummer Mikko Sirén, heeft de grenzen van het metalgenre verlegd. Van hun bescheiden begin als Metallica-tributeband in klassieke stijl tot het omarmen van een neoklassieke metal zonder gitaren en bas, heeft de band een indruk achtergelaten op de muziekscene.
